When to File Form 1099-MISC:

  • For paper filing, make sure to submit your forms by the last day of the second month following the tax year. For example, the deadline for the 2025 tax year is February 28, 2026.
  • If you’re filing Form 1099-MISC electronically, you have until March 31st. For instance, March 31, 2026, is the deadline for the tax year 2025.
  • Deadline to Issue a Recipient Copy:
    • You must provide each recipient with a copy of their Form 1099-MISC by January 31st of the following year.
