You can get copies of your Forms W-2 from prior years (1978 to present) from the Social Security Administration (SSA) or the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

The SSA can provide free copies if you need them for Social Security purposes. If you need them for other reasons, there is a $126 fee per request.

The IRS can also provide transcripts or copies of your old W-2s. However, state and local tax information may not be included if you e-filed your tax return for that year.
